• As a rule, before touching the DivineCup always thoroughly wash your hands. Then fold the cup. Try different ways of folding it. You’ll soon discover the way to fold it that works best for you.

  The 4 most common methods of folding the cup are:

  • Heart-shaped fold: flatten the DivineCup and fold both sides together.
  • Half-moon fold: using your thumbs, push one side of the DivineCup - at the same time - in and down. A lot of air stays in the cup using this method; this allows for easier unfolding of the cup after insertion.
  • Bending fold: push the DivineCup until it is flat and diagonally push one side downwards.
  • S-fold: flatten the DivineCup and fold the two ends zigzag together so that the folded form resembles the letter S.

  • Step 2: menstruation cup capacity

    One DivineCup can hold up to 3x the amount of a typical, consumer sanitary napkin or tampon. This means that most women will only need to empty their DivineCup once in the morning and once at night. It’s no problem to use the cup overnight, up to 12 hours at a time.

    While in your body the DivineCup only collects menstrual fluid – it collects none of your natural and vital vaginal secretions, which cannot be said of tampons.

  • Step 3: empty the menstruation cup, clean and reuse

    Before touching the DivineCup, wash your hands so as to avoid any possibility of contamination. Then, take the bottom of the cup with your thumb and forefinger and push it together. This releases the vacuum; now carefully remove the cup. Important: you have to release the vacuum pressure; do not simply pull on the stem! After releasing the vacuum, you can remove the DivineCup and empty the contents in the toilet.

    Before reinserting the cup, you should clean it. Wash the cup out, first with cold water (helps to fight odor and discoloration), then with warm water. You can also use a mild hygienic wipe when traveling.

    Once your period has finished you should disinfect the DivineCup. Boil the cup for 5 – 10 minutes. This is not necessary during your period; it is sufficient to wait until your period has completed to do so.

    In between the times when you are using the DivineCup, best practice is to store it in a breathable container – never in an airtight plastic or synthetic container.

    With proper care and cleaning, your DivineCup menstruation cup will be your reliable period companion for the next 10 years.
